Bring it On Spring 2013! We are all ready now!

The Cardigans

Cardigans have always been these strange type of wear that I have associated with smell of damp fur and feathers, bespectacled looks and bad hair-dos. But Marc Jacobs proved me so wrong by creating this beauty (pictured below). The cardigans now live a different life in my mind. They can be sexy, funky, furry, hairy, colourful and most importantly- beautiful.

Here are a few of my personal favourites:

1) Hermes never fails- here is another gem from Fall 2012- the Psychedelic Print Cape Cardigan

2)Cavali’s Jacquard Chunky Knit cardigan is a true-must have!

And Preen take the Cardigan on a whole new level with this’ Harmony Cardigan’

The clash- affordable vs original

When it comes to dressing, I often find it difficult to find the right ensemble, which would not only fit the moody English weather, but would also express my personality the way I want. And the problem is not that much the size, but rather the accessibility or the affordability of clothes. Because it is all about what is affordable and what is accessible. I have seen so many rip offs of designers’ newest collection, that I simply cannot visit any more Zara or M&S online stores…

I am not underestimating the importance of high street fashion, especially when it  totally fits within the two problematic categories- it is both accessible and affordable. I simple crave for more originality, and vibrancy versus the boring and predictable clothes we are all forced to wear. Affordable, different and chic should be able to translate in real life and in an attempt to find some inspirational attire, I looked at this: Garderob (http://www.garderob.biz/)

The brand started as a project in 2006,  by three immensely talented Bulgarian designers- Daniela Ivanova, Jivka Dacheva and Lyubomira Alexieva. They describe their style as ‘discreet and elegant with clever detailing and a little of a sporty touch.’

I personally like their clever detailing and twist on the feminine style.

Here are the current pieces, some of which can be also found on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/garderob)

The Cinderella’s Syndrome

I have always had this thing about shoes. Not the obsessive type of  My closet should be bigger and fuller than my five-storey Bookcase, but more the appreciative type. I like ballet shoes, flat shoes, lace-up shoes and definitely have a thing about quirky ankle booties and high-top trainers.

Since I am deeply infected by the shoe syndrome, I thought, what better that a little scratch of the shoe itch. So here is my selection of shoe candies on Lyst:

Be there or Be Square- Os Gêmeos’s in Boston (Part VII)

Os Gêmeos’s first museum solo US show is now a fact. The Institute of Contemporary Art is now the home of the eleven works of art- both sculptures and paintings, all  of which full of colour and vivid enough to reveal the artists’ desire to reveal an inside world. According to Os Gêmeos ,the title of one piece translates to

“Everything imaginary exists and is as such.”

And despite the fact that Boston is not popular for its street art, there are ways things to happen.

Here is a photo of one of the two outdoor murals that the brothers created as part of their show, a picture that states it loud and clear that art has no age, race or gender.

Williamsburg, NYC

It is all happening there. If you ask what is so special about it, here is the answer. ROA, JR, Shepard Fairey, they are all there hitting up the massive grey walls.

Here are some shots to grasp the visual insight and depth of the works.

Accessorize it Pop

It seems like we are hit by the Pop wave again. It is all bright, neon, flashy and comics, but not in the tacky way. On the contrary, it is all very positive, classy ; a breath of freshness into the gloominess of the grey ‘great’ British summer days.

We are more than happy to see that Andy Warhol’s cultural legacy still lives.

Here is some of the Pop freshness. Enjoy.

Be there or Be Square- Os Gêmeos’s in Boston (Part IV)

The wall is nearly finished at least by the looks of it and it is another brightly coloured, victim of the most brilliant and vivid imagination of the artists twins, so here are the last snaps plus a nice little portrait of the brothers by their mural on the Revere Hotel. Enjoy!
